Rod
Chandler received a Kodak Brownie camera as a Christmas gift
when he was 9-years old. Since then photography has grown
from an interest to a passion. Rod took photography classes
at the University of Washington and he learned from
photo-journalism-photographers. He worked as a television
news correspondent in Seattle, Washington and paid careful
attention to the work of cinematographers.Rod’s passion
for photography never waned but time to devote to the
calling was a problem during his career. In 1974 he was
elected to the Washington State House of Representatives
where he served for eight years. In 1982 he became a member
of the United States House of Representatives serving there
for the next ten years. He followed active service in the
Congress with a little over a decade as a political
consultant. In 2003, Rod earned a masters degree in
education and became a high school teacher. He retired at
the age of 65 in June of 2007.
Today, Rod travels around the country and the Rocky
Mountains with his wife Joyce. They enjoy a motor home and
the freedom to go where the pictures are when the mood
strikes. Rod studies photography constantly and attends
seminars and classes, ever striving to improve his skill.
His particular interest is landscape work but he also
photographs events, sports and children.
Rod uses a Nikon D2Xs with a Nikon D100 as backup. His
lenses include: 17-35mm zoom wide angle lens; 28-200mm
standard zoom lens; 60mm macro lens and a 200-500mm
telephoto lens. He employs a Gitzo tripod and a Really Right
Stuff ball head. His photographs are electronically
processed with Photoshop and he uses an Epson Stylus Pro
3800 printer.
